This sounds obvious enough. But there are, apparently, lawyers out there who take bankruptcy cases but don't like the people who file them. There are lawyers who yelled at the clients for having so much debt! That's completely inappropriate, as well as incomprehensible from a business standpoint. Many lawyers have been slow to adopt this newfangled technology. But those who have jumped in are worth checking out. You can tell a lot about people from their Web sites. At the least, you'll be able to gauge if bankruptcy is a large part of their practice, or just a sideline. This may not seem like a very helpful suggestion. If you're like most people, you're embarrassed about your situation and you don't want anyone else to know your business. But you might want to put your pride aside and seek advice from people whose opinions you trust. There are ways to get pointed in the right direction without revealing any details.
