This article details the different approaches to filing for bankruptcy using chapter 7 and chapter 13. It lists the advantages of each and some of the ramifications should you decide on one or the other. Bankruptcy should never be a first option for anyone looking at debt and credit problems, it should always be a last option. And even then you need to be completely certain that you are willing to take that last step and deal with the consequences that will follow. Nobody wants to consider personal bankruptcy in the UK, but the recent change in attitude towards substantial debt seems to indicate that the party is over and people need to start being accountable for their excessive spending.
